CEN Solutions, a leading EN 1279 consultancy, has published a bulletin explaining in detail the current situation regarding declarations of conformity to EN 1279 Part 2 and BS EN 1279 Kitemark. It is now possible for many insulating glass manufacturers to self-declare their conformity. If their ig units have been successfully tested to Part 2 and a factory production control system fully complying with Part 6 has been implemented, self-declaration is permitted.
A major factor is the periodic testing required of compliance companies. CEN Solutions has recently established a test facility (this testing does not have to be carried out by a Notified Body) and operates what they believe is a unique Compliance Management Service.
Manufacturers who have gone this compliance route and who are using test and management services such as those described can declare their conformity safe in the knowledge that their quality standards are at least the equal of Kitemark licensees.
The bulletin is available free of charge and without obligation from Dave Frost, Managing Director of CEN Solutions, tel. 01785 605306
