Security at the new Selfridges store in Birmingham’s Bullring complex is first class thanks to Bosch’s AutoDome cameras

Digital CCTV

The Selfridges store at Birmingham city Centre’s rebuilt Bullring Shopping Complex is located in a building that features four floors of open-plan space linked by zig-zagged escalators and transparent walkways. There are seven entrance and exit ways, 24-hour loading bays and eight floors of dedicated parking space. All of which poses a serious challenge to security and safety monitoring.

The security systems solution – installed by ADT – includes a combination of 84 fully-functional PTZ AutoDome cameras supplied by Bosch Security Systems. These are linked to a bank of seven, 16-channel Divar digital video controllers/recorders.

All PTZ cameras feature motion detection, allowing them to zoom in automatically on any security-related incident. Relayed images are then stored in real-time at up to 50 frames per second. Each of the Divar units can accommodate anything up to 16 cameras.

The store’s CCTV Control Room houses 13 monitors, offering the in-house security management team a mixture of full screen, quad, 3x3 and 4x4 views of the cameras at any time.
