Irwell Valley Housing Association chief executive Tom Manion has been named public servant of the year for housing.
The award, sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and the Cabinet Office, was made by a panel of a dozen judges last week. Manion was nominated by Urban Splash chair Tom Bloxham, Bolton housing director George Caswell and Irwell Valley tenant Bill Duran.
Manion said: “It is a great honour but it’s really an accolade for Irwell Valley. I’m just the bloke who steers the ship.”
He added: “If this is an effort to embourgeoisify me, it is sadly mistaken.”
