It is available from the CIBSE bookshop (www.cibse.org , or call 020 8675 5211). ISBN 1-903287-30-8.

The guide has been prepared with assistance from English Heritage, Historic Scotland, Cadw and the National Trust.

The authors are experienced practitioners – building services engineer Peter Warm, and surveyor Richard Oxley. The book begins with a foreword by the authors where they point out: 'In most cases the building services in a building last typically 15 to 30 years, a fleeting event in the life of a historic building. For example, some parish churches are over 1000 years old'.

The Guide aims to make a sustainable approach to historic and traditional buildings an everyday activity, not the exception. By adopting good practice say the authors 'one can simultaneously achieve social, cultural, economic and environmental benefits'.

Members'price for the CIBSE Guide to building services for historic buildings is £35 (non members £50).
