A shared-homeownership scheme for people with learning disabilities has won a national award.
The initiative, run by Oxfordshire housing association Advance Housing and Support, won the innovation category in this year's Affordable Homeownership Awards, run by the National Housing Federation.
Under the scheme, the association buys suitable properties on the open market. Three major lenders provide interest-only mortgages.
The scheme offers 100% mortgages with repayments through income support. Owners can also access mortgages linked to income support for mortgage interest and there are repayment schemes using equity from the owner's parents. Tony Dixon, head of homeownership at Advance, said: "We can now offer it to parents with money to invest in property for their children, and have extended the scheme to people with mental health problems."
