Light-Emitting Diodes: a guide to the technology and its applications is a new guide, published by BSRIA.
Until recently, the small size and limited output of LEDs has restricted their use in architectural lighting schemes. However, recent research has focused on increasing light output, improving luminous efficacy and enhancing colour quality. This has expanded the applications of LEDs. The BSRIA guide outlines the main performance characteristics of LEDs so that lighting designers, specifiers, installers and building users can better understand the opportunities that they offer now and in the future. It provides examples of applications, considers specification issues and concludes with a listing of relevant standards.
