Major fabricator Shepley Window Systems launched its conservatory division back in May 2001 and four years on sales are going ‘through the roof’ with record sales of 73 conservatory roofs being sold in just one week of May alone.

Shepley manufactures the Wendland roof system. Wes Clarkson, Shepley’s Conservatory Roof Sales Manager is convinced of its benefits. ‘This is painfully clear when you compare Wendland components with certain budget products available on the market. For instance the ridge is up to six times stronger than competitor roofs meaning in most cases tie bars aren’t necessary, which are often seen as a real bugbear by homeowners’. Shepley holds the BBA accreditation, which encompasses materials, manufacturing processes and installation advice and proves that our roof system has undergone rigorous tests and can withstand over 25 years wear and tear in a typical British climate. That’s wind speeds that gust up to 125mph, temperatures up to 35°C, or as low as minus 15°C, up to 57 days of large hail stones, over 30 feet of rainfall and 450 days of snow.

Shepley offers roofs unglazed, suitable for glass or a range of polycarbonate including 25mm athermic opal polycarb. The new polycarb’ reduces the transfer of heat into the conservatory by more than 60%. It features a specially designed five wall ‘M’ structure that has a very high value of thermal insulation, with relatively low weight, and carries a minimum 10 year guarantee and a Class One fire rating.
