The Security Industry Authority (SIA) and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) have agreed funding support for door supervisors who engage with the newly-approved door supervisor training programme.
The SIA has set the training standards and qualification levels of the door supervisor course to meet the tough LSC criteria for funding.

Meantime, the LSC is pioneering an approach that will, for the first time, enable colleges and individual training providers to establish local training networks aimed at delivering a greatly increased training capacity.

LSC funding support amounts to £102 per individual, which will go towards directly off-setting the costs of training fees. Individuals will themselves be expected to contribute a minimum of £51.

Initially, the funding plan is being provided in the SIA's pilot licensing area (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight). Both the LSC and the SIA will monitor the new arrangements with the aim of extending the funding scheme to support the SIA's national roll-out of licensing.
