Siemens has doubled in size by acquiring Preussag Fire Protection and is now set to become a major player in security
The operations of the two companies have merged under the name of Siemens Building Technologies Cerberus Division to create a £40m business. Now the Wokingham-based company will pursue at least two more security acquisitions next year.

Siemens Cerberus has faced increasing demand from fire detection customers to become involved in security and launched a division dedicated solely to security systems last year, supplying intruder alarms, CCTV and access control products.

Managing Director Peter Wingard said: "Our aim is to take market share from the established major players and become number two (to ADT) in 01-02. Customers want more than just security products – they want quality support from well-trained engineers before, during and after sales".
