The SITO National Training Conference 2002 - scheduled for November 5 at the Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham - will be based on the themes "The Wider Police Family" and "Training for a Safe Environment"
The conference will give an opportunity to hear the latest developments at a time of great change within training: for example, the introduction of Sector Skills Councils, the emerging role of the Security Industry Authority and a broadening of the involvement of the security industry within wider police activities.

Keynote speakers during the morning will include Molly Meacher, Chair of the SIA, on the issue of training standards; Mark Favanger from the Criminal Records Bureau on disclosure; and Paul Wilson for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, speaking about the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit.

Following the Gala Lunch, where the SITO National Training Awards will be presented, the afternoon will consist of four seminars, each with three specialist speakers, covering "The Wider Police Family", "Examination, Assessment and Verification", "Systems Training and Data Protection" and "Safety Issues".

Anyone interested in attending is advised to book their place quickly. The cost to delegates is £110 for SITO members and £125 for non-members. For full details ring SITO on 01905 20004 or visit the website www.sito.co.uk
