And this year's winner is.... Beattie Flanigan & Partners
The new labour delivery recovery and post partum unit for Craigavon area hospital in Portadown was the first project of its type in Northern Ireland. The objective of the unit is to provide facilities in order to provide a comfortable hotel style ambience and enable individual self management in privacy whenever possible.

The mechanical and electrical services requirements of this unit, due to their stringent nature, present particular problems for the design, especially within the confines of an existing building shell housing extensive services and a tight programme.

Comprehensive existing services presented particular difficulties for the design of new services. This problem was compounded by the need to limit both the extent and time of interruptions to existing services within a working hospital environment.

This project exemplified simplicity over complexity

The NTO temporary call centre at Cobalt Business Park in Newcastle was a fully fitted out, fully operational facility of around 2700 m2 nett. The priority was to design an air conditioned space which was relatively cheap, but effective for a five month temporary occupation.

MR Security
Bryanston Square in London represents some £25 million of sales estate value. MR Security worked closely with Octagon Developments to design a security system which includes intruder alarms, fire alarms, cctv, video door entry/concierge system, access control and gate automation.
