Volution Holdings has paid £125 million for the ventilation and cable management businesses of the Smiths Group, which includes top industry brands Vent-Axia, Roof Units, Adaptaflex, Kopex and Elkay.
Newly-formed Volution Holdings includes a management team from the offloaded divisions and will be headed up by chief executive Kevin Sargeant.

Sargeant is keen to stress that it will be business as usual: "Our new board includes Simon Clews, Steve Diamond, Lee Rutter and Austen Reid, all of whom held senior posts within the Smiths Group Industrial Division and line responsibility for a number of the companies now under the aegis of Volution Holdings."

Volution also takes on Smiths Group businesses Quartz, Anda, Sifan, Torin and Harnessflex. "With our substantial portfolio of leading brands, we can now focus on developing our strengths in the construction business and especially in the retrofit and refurbishment sectors, via our established distribution and oem channels," said Sargeant.

Volution Holdings will operate from offices in Crawley, West Sussex. With a turnover in excess of £110 million per annum, Sargeant sees the synergies between the hvac and electrical cabling industries as particularly attractive.
