The latest example of Solar Windows’ commitment and expertise in the public sector is a two-year manufacture, supply and installation contract with Denbighshire County Council, which represents the largest window replacement contract the council has ever awarded.
The Caerphilly-based Rehau fabricator will manufacture and install replacement windows and doors for around 2,500 council owned properties to bring them up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standards ahead of the 2012 deadline.
This project uses windows fabricated in South Wales, Rehau PVC-U profile extruded in Blaenau, and double glazed sealed units produced in Port Talbot. Not only does it help to secure jobs at Solar Windows and at many of its supply chain partners but it is already bringing additional spending into Denbighshire with warehouse investment and long term and contract employment opportunities.
In recent months Solar Windows’ MD Carl Lewis has invested more than £700,000 in new plant and machinery.
Paul Quirk, Head of Housing Services for the council, praised Solar Windows for the quality and care being shown throughout the project. For example, it has established a Denbighshire depot from which it is managing the installations and is working with Tenant Liaison Officers to ensure deadlines are met and tenants are satisfied.
