Solihull council has moved a step closer to setting up a regeneration company to help the area's housing meet the decent homes standard.
The council is to advertise for bidders to develop a North Solihull Regeneration Company, after a feasibility study concluded that such a model could be commercially feasible.

No specific model has been agreed upon, but it is understood that a regeneration company could take responsibility for improving the bulk of Solihull's 11,700 council houses.

Solihull council was to have balloted tenants on stock transfer proposals last November, but decided to postpone any decision so it could consider other options.

Solihull's housing debt is roughly £40m, and the council has said that an extra £10m over five years is needed if it is to meet the government's decent homes target.
