Teboil – the Finnish marketing company whose products include high grade fuel oils, motor fuels and liquid propane gas – boasts a nationwide service station network. Recognising the need for effective surveillance at the newly-opened Pirkanhovi station alongside the Helsinki-Tampere motorway, Teboil's management team specified Sony equipment for monitoring not only the refuelling points but also the perishable goods store, specialised retail outlets and automatic cash dispensers – as well as a 400-seater restaurant.
Supplied and installed by local distributor Lähiturva 24 Oy, there are a total of 24 Sony SSC-DC18P surveillance cameras covering the site, in addition to three Kalatel dome cameras. All images are recorded digitally onto two Sony HSR-1P recorders, the end product monitored by way of four SSM-14N5E colour screens.
The installation, which has been approved by the police, boasts a dedicated control room, but it's one that doesn't require a round-the-clock manned presence. If any incidents do occur, notification is sent direct to the police, with a printer allowing pictures of suspects 'caught in the act' to be taken directly from the video recordings for evidentiary purposes.
