Connell Mott MacDonald is designing what are set to become the southern hemisphere's tallest buildings.
The Eureka Tower in Melbourne and Sydney's Meriton Apartment World Tower will stand at 88 and 86 storeys respectively.
Eureka Tower, located in Melbourne's regenerated Southbank area, will contain around 530 apartments. Observation decks and restaurants at the top will be open to the public.
The World Tower will be situated in Sydney's central business district. Connell project leader David Emery explains the building's unique construction: "The core is being jump-formed two levels at a time ahead of the floor structure.
"In fact, to our knowledge, this is the first time a core will be jump-formed two floors at a time anywhere in the world."
World Tower is due for completion in 2004, and Eureka one year later.
