A security Taskforce has been launched by train operator Southern in conjunction with security company MacLellan Attlaw and the British Transport Police (BTP).

The aim of the initiative, which was devised by Southern’s head of security David Hynes, is to enhance security and safety on the rail network operated by Southern as a result of clamping down on anti-social behaviour and crime. The team – whose members will be accredited under the BTP’s Railway Accredited Persons Scheme – is able to enforce Railway Bye-Laws.

MacLellan Attlaw’s officers – all of whom receive nationally-accredited training – have previously worked with Southern on fare evasion, crowd control and anti-graffiti projects.
