The husband-and-wife team behind the London Eye has revealed detailed designs for 50-storey residential skyscrapers that they claim could help address the capital's affordable homes crisis.

David Marks and Julia Barfield, of Marks Barfield Architects, have called their design the Skyhouse. The underlying idea behind the project is to create high-rise buildings in which people will want to live.

It is estimated that clusters of Skyhouses could provide housing density of 180 homes per hectare.
