James Price Glazing, the Aintree based structural glass specialist, has introduced a new frameless structural glazing system called G-span
G-span provides construction professionals with the opportunity of creating building designs in glass to virtually any specification. The range of G-span mechanical fixing systems allows for designs in any plane from vertical to horizontal in single or double skin and laminated glass systems. Tuffx toughened glass is heat soak tested to DIN 18516 and Kitemarked to BS 5713, in hard or soft coat Low E and solar controlled glasses plus laminated glass for roof applications. All G-span frameless glass structures are produced entirely in-house to meet the most demanding specifications and have been tested to exceed CWCT and BS EN 13830 standards.
Flush to glass system
The secret of G-span lies in the specially developed bolting systems designed to suit a range of glazing options and specifications.
Single glazed G-span is a frameless structural glazing system with the glass panels silicone bonded together and mechanically bolted to structure allowing for great freedom of design. The bolting systems range from simple angles to fully adjustable ‘spiders’ or ‘H’ brackets. There are two bolting options; GM 10 – a flush to glass system with a counter sunk outer fixing and an inner bolt with a steel plate for attachment to structure; GM 11 alternatively is a disc bolting system with an outer stainless steel disc with fibre washers to both sides of the glass and an internal steel plate that gives added support to the glass and provides a fixing to structure.
Double-glazed G-span incorporates a specially developed bolting system GMDG 10 that is factory fitted to the inner glass and hermetically sealed within the double glazed unit providing an anchorage point to the structure. This allows for a completely free outer surface of the façade. All glass is processed in-house giving the specifier a wide range of choices including solar controlled, low E, tinted, clear or the new Cervoglass units from James Price. The inner glass is always toughened and heat soak tested in either 10mm or 12mm thicknesses with air space widths ranging from 12mm to 24mm and with an Argon-filled option.
Laminated G-span is used primarily for roof canopy and atrium applications combining as it does the strength of toughened glass with the safety of the laminate so that in the event of breakage the panels retain their integrity allowing for replacement to be carried out. The GM L 10 bolting system, specially designed for laminated glass, incorporates a countersunk anchor insert on the inner glass of the laminated unit and with a structural fixing section screwed onto it. The inner glass is heat soak tested 12mm toughened glass and the outer panel the laminated glass that can be made in a range of types and thicknesses from 4mm to 12mm. Add to all this the tried and tested James Price Portello frameless glass door system and complete facades can be created.
Fit or supply only
The G-span service gives customers the choice of supply and fit or supply only. In both cases the production programme from original concept and CAD designs to installation by teams of skilled installers from James Price or organised by the customer is supervised by skilled fenestration engineers. A post installation service can be provided by these engineers to be carried out on completion and thereafter on a regular six or 12 monthly basis.
The G-span design and installation programme can be completed in just six weeks from order confirmation and where necessary any remedial work can be carried out within 48 hours anywhere in mainland UK.
Whether for complete glass facades, frameless glass structures, atrium roofs or interior and exterior balustrading, G-span from Tuffx is the new cost-effective solution.
