Ross Summers, 21, has been named as the ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year.

Working for Southern Electric Contracting and studying at the City of Bristol College, Summers fought off hundreds of hopefuls to win a study trip to Germany, courtesy of Osram and £1000.

Summers and the regional award winners were announced at a special ceremony, held on 20 July, in London. Host and managing director of Edmundson Electrical, Douglas McNair, said: “To win the ECA Edmundson Young Apprentice of the Year award is considered an outstanding achievement within the electrical industry. Ross earned great respect from the judges who praised the exceptional standard he achieved so early in his career.”

Summers said: “I am thrilled to have been chosen as this year’s winner. I intend to continue my training at college. Next year I’m hoping to study for a Higher National Certificate in electrical engineering and am considering taking a degree.”
