Squaring up to the big issues

Chris Blythe’s endorsement of Rod Sweet’s term of editorship was spot on. In the last few years CM has squared up to some of the scariest issues around: corruption, prejudice, and injustice. Chris is right. CM asked the simple questions, and never more so than with sustainability and social responsibility. He dared ask the big one: Why are we all acting as if we had three planet Earths, which is Humankind’s current global ‘eco-footprint’?

Attitudes are shifting fast. Construction is changing from the inside out. And not to be trendy, but because of the real big issue ahead: our kids’ future.

At some point over the last four years, a tipping point was reached in construction’s perception of sustainability, from naïve nonsense to necessity.

We can face a brighter future now thanks to the ‘Rod’ we made for our own backs!
