They add: "The imminent introduction of European standards to be introduced in September, which will apply to all security systems, may well mean that installers need yet more guidance".
The Standards Centre will have experts from the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board and the National Security Inspectorate on hand to answer visitors' questions in these complex fields.
Mike Reddington, Sales and Marketing Director at Ademco Microtech Intruder Division commented, "It is vitally important that installers as well as manufacturers keep up to date with the rapidly developing situation regarding standards that affect our industry. IFSEC provides an ideal venue and opportunity to gather information and seek advice. The Standards Desk sounds like an effective way of getting the latest facts and recommendations."
The emergence of IT Networks is another focus of the event which will provide "the definitive platform for the industry to educate itself at all levels".
For the first time at IFSEC, visitors will also be able to take part in the Network Knowledge Zone, in association with Tavcom Training. The dedicated area will feature free hands-on training on all aspects of networked security systems, including: video over networks; integrated systems; CCTV & bandwidth and IT network security.
Visitors will get the opportunity to gain experience first hand, by sitting down at workstations and being guided on essential aspects of networked systems.
Expert tutors from Tavcom will be on hand to de-mystify topics such as: setting up IP addresses; subnets and masks; security issues of LAN; bandwidth monitoring and the effects of different compression techniques.
IFSEC and Security Solutions take place from 19th-22nd May 2003 at Birmingham's NEC. Information: www.ifsec.co.uk where visitors can also pre-register for free entry, or ticket hotline: +44(0)870 429 4324.
