East London is set to get an extra 4850 homes as part of a £4bn regeneration agreement signed today. Housing association East Thames Group will work with London & Continental Railways and Stratford City Developments to provide the homes in the Stratford City project. The scheme also includes an international rail terminal, bus stations, schools, hotels, leisure facilities and shops.

The area could get an extra 2300 homes if London wins its bid to host the 2012 Olympics Games. The athlete’s village would be turned into housing after the games.
