SummitSkills, the proposed Sector Skills Council (SSC) has been given the go-ahead to move into the next stage of its development.
SummitSkills represents the electrotechnical, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and plumbing industries. The move was approved at the board meeting of the Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) in November 2002.

SummitSkills is being developed by employers and the five trade associations active in the sector, ECA, SELECT, HVCA, APHC, SNIPEF, as well as the union for the sector, AMICUS.

The new organisation will take responsibility for the full range of skills used by businesses operating in the sector and working with, and for, employers to bring them added value through improved efficiency and powerful representation. The organisation will work towards obtaining its SSC licence by March 2003.
