Architectural aluminium glazing specialist Technal has announced ambitious plans to expand its operations in Ireland. The move follows the success of the Irish office, which opened three years ago, and during which time sales have more than doubled.

The plans include the relocation to new, larger premises at Tougher Business Park in Naas and a number of staff appointments to enable the business to provide sales and technical support locally.

Commenting on the expansion, General Manager, Bob Welsh, said, ‘Our investment in an independent base for Technal in Ireland in 2002 and the move to offering our systems direct, have resulted in us more than doubling our market share in that short time. This is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to the team.

‘It is also further evidence of the success of our customer-focused approach in both the UK and Ireland. We remain committed to achieving shorter lead times and the highest quality standards, and providing a reliable and efficient service to fabricators, architects and contractors.

‘Demand for our systems is rising in every sector and we are broadening our product range in response to the changing requirements of both specifiers and fabricators. The move to the new offices will give us space for our future expansion, while maintaining the highest levels of customer service.’

‘The volume of curtain walling sales is growing as a reflection of the move towards more sheer and transparent buildings. Architects increasingly want a greater proportion of glass to maximise natural light, and specifications have become more technically demanding. We are undertaking more design work at the earlier stages of a project to help specifiers achieve the best practical solution as well as the right aesthetics.’

Technal, part of Hydro Building Systems, is one of Europe’s market leaders in the design, manufacture and distribution of high performance aluminium glazing solutions.
