A teenager is standing for the board of a South-eastern regeneration company.
Brendan Williams, 16, is one of 11 people vying for five board places at EB4U, a £47.3m New Deal for Communities company in east Brighton.

He decided to stand for the board because he felt not enough was being done for young people in his area. He and other locals are campaigning for a play area.

Williams, who is studying for his GCSEs, said: "If you're a young person, then the young people in the area are going to listen to you more. If you're older, they just think you're trying to be bossy."

The election takes place next month. The other candidates are: Colin Bradford; Katie Bridle; Janet Cook; Rory Curran; John Roberts; Colin Shepherd; Michael Stimson; Rosa Straw; Alan Teague and Mary Wilson.
