The BSIA welcomes the Bill, containing as it does the core elements for which we have lobbied so vigorously – including the licensing of manned security officers.
While there is a considerable amount of legislation to get through Parliament over the next few months, the Private Security Industry Bill is a relatively simple one. We would anticipate the Bill becoming law before the next General Election.
The BSIA is currently collating feedback on the Bill from its members. Over the next few weeks we will be liaising closely with Government to raise any concerns expressed by our membership, and to clarify particular aspects of the new legislation.
Once the legislation is introduced, we will represent the legitimate views of the industry to ensure that the regulation is properly co-ordinated and implemented, and lobby for any desired amendments.
