In recent times we have seen the restructuring of the Association of Chief Police Officers' Security Systems Policy and the National Security Inspectorate committees.
The aim being to incorporate all types of security systems. That can only help in positioning our part of the industry for a seamless relationship with the Security Industry Authority should the electronic sectors come under regulatory legislation in the future.

For our part, BSIA member companies have been actively involved in the development of emerging standards. However, on occasion a greater integration of Working Groups' ideas would have been extremely beneficial.

As technologies converge, it's essential that we have a united approach to the development of standards. It's with this in mind that, as chairman of the Association's Systems Section, I want to explore much closer liaison with Working Groups. So too the CCTV and Access Control Sections. I would also like to see a significant growth in membership over the next two years. Ultimately, the BSIA's Security Systems Section needs to continue to be proactively involved in the reduction of false alarms and the improvement of standards.
