These are exciting times for cctv as we go through a period of rapid change, with integration into IT networks and digital recording systems very much a reality.
Indeed, the enhanced capabilities of CCTV systems have opened up new possibilities for security and operational management. Already, we're beginning to see a growing move towards the latest generation of digital networked systems.

Crucially, such systems bring with them vastly reduced installation costs together with enhanced flexibility and ease of use over more traditional approaches.

Perhaps of most benefit is the fact that they support on-site desktop PC access to multiple 'authorised' network users, who can view live and recorded images without disrupting the recording process.

Another piece of welcome news is the availability of large capacity hard disk drives, easily equating to more than 90 days of recording time. Such impressive event databases are invaluable, and allow users real flexibility in reviewing incidents as and when necessary.

Given these capabilities, there can be little doubt that digital networked video – in all its various guises – will continue to act as a powerful catalyst for the latest CCTV 'revolution'.
