Construction's last word on G&T's cash bonanza, QSs in reality TV and London buses
Share and share alike
Confused over who pocketed the biggest wad of cash at Gardiner & Theobald? QS News confidently plumped for the incoming bigwig Simon Jones as the man to have earned a tasty three quarters of a million quid in 2004/05. Other reports claimed it was Peter Sanders, the soon to be retiring managing partner. It turns out we might have all been right. When control of the firm was handed down from former senior partner Michael Coates back in 1999 it was passed on to a quartet consisting of Jones, Sanders, Roger Fidgen and Colin Wyatt - the latter two have now moved on. They are all believed to have been on similar packages, hence the fact that the current controlling duo may well have been paid the same amount. Spare a thought for the two of them, though. Apparently when the firm was making profits pushing £15m earlier in the decade, the top earners at the firm were on seven figures. Hold the personalised Aston must be the cry from Bedford Square.

There. We did it, without so much as a tap on the accelerator that could have sent us hairing off down a road of hackneyed clichés.
