The UK's first naturally ventilated shopping centre

Gill Air and Matthews & Yates has manufactured and constructed a fully enclosed natural ventilation system for the Touchwood Shopping Centre.

The system was designed by Vision consultants and works through 36 elliptical turrets at roof level. The turrets are said to be the largest 'wind catcher' vents developed for this application and are designed to capture the prevailing wind over a 350° angle, regardless of the weather conditions. In addition, each turret contains a 750 mm diameter reflective light pipe that provides natural light into the shopping centre.
