Total Conservatory Roof Systems has received a customer testimonial from Massachusetts, USA, by one very impressed homeowner.
The company has supplied pre-assembled roof systems to America from their UK design and production plant in Norwich for over nine years.
‘The real test of any roof system in the US is based upon the capabilities of the structure, tested to the extreme conditions the USA can experience from state to state.’ comments Stefano Zagni, Managing Director.
‘Our system was specifically designed to span greater distances without the use of a portal, and because of this in-built strength the roof system can take additional downward stress in extreme weight conditions and have greater stability when subjected to hurricane force winds, much more than you would expect from a standard roof system.’
One lucky home owner in Massachusetts was counting his blessings when his area experienced the heaviest fall for January in Massachusetts’ history. The photograph was taken after a fresh 18 inch snowfall, 24 inches overall of freezing snow and ice:
Customer testimonial
‘Despite the electrical snow melter in the gutter system (the black cord which is showing) the truly heavy ice dam which has metamorphosed from the snow pack to very heavy ice is bending and distorting the guttering and unfortunately this could not melt the snow quick enough.
‘The snow has now melted and the guttering has popped back to its original position, as good as new. The roof has withstood a truly extreme test of the New England winteriness; it really can do what you said it would do.’, wrote Edward H Washburn of Lexington, Massachusetts.
American test ratings
The owner of the house was writing to thank everyone involved with the installation; other homeowners were not so lucky with their conservatories and sunrooms in the neighbourhood. The weight of the freezing snow can distort the roofing material and glazing bars when inferior systems are installed. The Total Conservatory Roof System has achieved British Standards in three categories in the UK and has recently passed the American ASTM E & ASTM A ratings governed by the International Code Council (ICC), and is the only roof system known to have achieved this accreditation status.
