National Housing Federation deputy chief executive James Tickell is to resign in May after 10 years at the body.
He is going to set up a housing consultancy firm with his friend Greg Campbell, a consultant, in June.

An architect by training, Tickell was previously registrar of the Housing Corporation and housing director at the Refugee Council.

He said: "It will be hard to leave a job and colleagues that mean a lot to me. But it will be good to become more directly involved in the daily work of housing, neighbourhoods, governance and regulation.

"I leave the federation at a time when it is stronger than ever, with the new focus and energy that [sector rebranding] In Business for Neighbourhoods has brought." Tickell was responsible for promoting In Business and for the NHF's communications and governance code.

NHF chair Richard Clark said: "Along with Jim Coulter, he's done a great job of making the federation more professional."

Ed Barnes, the NHF's regional officer for the East, is leaving on 30 April. Nigel Minto, head of membership and projects, is also set to depart in the next few months.
