Laminated timber curtain walling is now available from Stoakes Systems as an alternative to aluminium curtain walling. The company is a long established specialist for the supply and installation of curtain walling systems and Kalwall translucent cladding and roofing.

The Seufert-Niklaus system is manufactured in Germany and has been widely used in continental Europe for many years. Using engineered laminated timber for glazing walling is not only aesthetically pleasing, with the attractive and warm internal feel of wood, but is also thermally very efficient, says Stoakes. In addition, the raw materials are sourced from renewable forests which means that the system is totally sustainable and environmentally friendly.

The flexibility of the system means that virtually any design can be manufactured using the many different combinations of standard and bespoke windows, doors and glazing. Up to 15 metre unsupported spans are possible with 50mm sections which still present a crisp, clean and uncluttered appearance. Architectrs and designers can specify from a large number of different timber laminates.

Stoakes Systems offers technical information together with an extensive portfolio of individual case study brochures which detail a variety of timber glass façade designs for a raft of different building types.
