The organisers of the Timber Show, due to take place in London this September, are reporting an enthusiastic response from the industry since its launch last year.
'We received our first email requesting information about exhibiting before 10am on the day the initial announcement was published,' said exhibition director John Southam. ‘Since then the number of enquiries - from the UK and overseas - has increased rapidly in response to mailings from us and our supporting organisations and also through companies visiting our website.'
Joinery companies are expected to be well represented among the exhibitors - with increasing demand and still-untapped potential for growth in both new-build and refurbishment markets.
‘Timber window sales have increased by more than a third in recent years, and all indications are that demand is remaining buoyant while our competitors in the uPVC and aluminium sectors struggle,' claims Richard Lambert, Director of the British Woodworking Federation.
‘The industry has successfully promoted the performance, aesthetic and environmental benefits of timber windows to architects, specifiers, builders and developers, highlighting how they can contribute towards providing more sustainable, energy efficient housing. Now is the time to capitalise on the renewed interest in timber - and a dedicated timber exhibition that attracts buyers from the social and private construction sector offers joinery manufacturers the chance to speak directly to the people who make the buying decisions.'
Supported by the TTF, UKFPA, UKTFA, Wood for Good, TIMBERWeb and Canada Wood - who are promoting the event to their members - the exhibition takes place from September 12-14 2006 at ExCeL in London.
