Securitas AB, the world's largest security services provider, has posted better-than-expected second quarter profits for 2001 – but the company's joy has been shortlived following the news that one of its officers has been battered to death while on patrol.
As SMT went to press, it emerged that 42-year-old father of three Jasvinder Bohgan from Leicester had been found dead by colleagues outside the Thornton's chocolate factory in Belper, Derbyshire in the early hours of 12 August. Jasvinder had suffered serious head injuries. A murder hunt has now been launched.

Police believe the guard may have been killed after discovering a suspected burglar. Analysis of CCTV footage points to the assailant being a white man aged between 25 and 35-years-old.

A spokesperson for Securitas said: "Every possible support is being offered to Mr Bohgan's wife, teenage son and daughters."

This is the first on-duty death of a Securitas guard in the UK.

SMT sends its sincere condolences to the Bohgan family.
