TAVCOM TRAINING has added a new BTEC qualification to its existing range.
The BTEC Security Systems Diploma, in conjunction with the Edexcel Foundation, is a first for the industry and is believed to be the most comprehensive and prestigious qualification available to security systems personnel.

Tavcom has worked closely with the BTEC Business Development Team to design a 'pick and mix' modular structure for the curriculum which will allow students from many different disciplines to benefit from the Diploma course.

The full Diploma programme requires students to successfully complete a minimum of seven individual Tavcom Training courses. All students firstly need to attend four core courses which cover CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and IP at Foundation level. These courses represent 12 units of the full programme.

Students then acquire a further ten units by making their own selection from a variety of courses which cater to different sectors of the industry.

Installers, managers, system planners and consultants will thus have the opportunity to tailor the content to suit their own particular requirements and chosen career path.

The full 22 units must be acquired within a maximum period of five years but Tavcom director of training Mike Tennent said most students hope to acquire their Diploma over a much shorter period of time.
