Hyde Housing Association is set to invest more than £41m in three London estates after tenants backed plans for stock transfer.

Hyde will spend £16m on improving the 480-home Surco estate in Islington, north London.

A further £5.5m will be spent on Islington’s Grove estate, which has 172 flats and houses.

Of 227 Surco tenants who voted in a ballot last week, 56% supported transfer.

On the Grove estate, 103 tenants took part in the ballot and 73% voted in favour.

The results follow the balloting of tenants on Lambeth’s Kennington Park estate on 26 July, where transfer to Hyde also won approval.

On a turnout of more than 580 tenants, 60% said “yes”.

Hyde now plans to spend £20m improving the 846-home estate.
