Now Ashram is looking for a larger RSL to help it take forward crucial housing and care services for the large black and minority ethnic population in its area. And it hopes to expand into Warwickshire and the Black Country.
The association says any partner must share its ethos and values and be willing to help safeguard high-quality, culturally appropriate services.
Ashram got into difficulties last year over its relationship with charity Ashram International (Housing Today, 20 September).
The corporation said it had identified a need to review Ashram's governance, management, finance and strategic objectives.
Three corporation appointees are to continue on Ashram's board for another six months.
Ashram chair Pastor Dalbir Masih said: "We have been encouraged by the support of the corporation and local authorities in the region regarding the future of the organisation."
