Why? Because from day one, we realised that there is far more going on in this diverse, dynamic sector than we could possibly cover in a monthly magazine. So it is with genuine delight that we announce that from 9 June, The Facilities Business will be a fortnightly magazine.
So what do the changes mean for you? First and foremost, with a newly expanded team of professional reporters and editors, we will be able to provide you with even better, more comprehensive and totally independent news stories, analysis and features, keeping you up to date with the most important developments in your sector.
Our jobs service will become even bigger and better. The largest selection of jobs in the sector will now feature every fortnight in an expanded careers section. This will also include news on people moves, training and networking opportunities, and careers advice.
Meanwhile, in keeping with higher frequency publications, we'll be introducing a tabloid-style format (see left). This will feature news on the front, making it easier for you to get straight to the most important stories in the sector and the articles of most relevance to you.
All your favourite sections will continue; the Professional Section, for example, with its mix of health and safety, employment, contract management and property advice, will continue in its newly expanded format. But now it will be brought to you every fortnight, rather than just once a month.
The new sections we've recently introduced, including our Q&A section, the Chatroom, our TableTalk catering column, and costs and data round-up Cost Club, will all feature in the new-look fortnightly magazine. At the same time, we also intend to build on the reputation we have already secured for our incisive, in-depth features – a section now in the very capable hands of our new deputy editor, Stephanie France.
Your favourite contributors – David Pearson on contract management, for example – will all be moving with us to the new-look fortnightly magazine. But there will also be some new faces, including City watcher Malcolm Craig. In a new, regular column, he will be keeping an eye on the ups and downs of contractors quoted on the London Stock Exchange.
Going fortnightly is not a step we have taken lightly. It reflects a high level of commitment to the facilities management sector from Vivendi Universal, parent company to The Builder Group, our publisher.
Above all, the decision reflects the strength of the welcome we have received from our readers ever since our launch. Just six months after our first edition, post-launch research found that the magazine, which has a 15,000-strong circulation, was already the best read in the marketplace, with the highest average issue readership. This month, we can announce that 8,400 readers have now personally registered with us to ensure they receive every issue of the magazine – and the number is rising fast.
There is no question that, without this support from you, we would be unable to take this next step. So, from us, a big thank you.
Finally, don't forget that to keep this magazine as fresh and as relevant to you as possible, we need you to keep your ideas coming. If you have any comments to make on what you have seen so far, on what you have read here, or simply on the sorts of articles you would most like to see, please get in touch.
