Making sure you are up-to-speed with the latest products and services in the security market is vital for end users. Just as well, then, that an all-new CMP Information-organised event in London this month is designed to keep you well ahead of the game. Security Management Today previews Total Workplace Management 2005.

The vulnerability of the workplace and its workforce has never been more evident following the events of 7/7 in the Capital. In turn, security suppliers are constantly evolving their products and services to meet the ever-increasing needs of corporate organisations.

It can be quite a job to keep track of all the latest developments, but now CMP Information – publisher of Security Management Today and sister titles Security Installer and CCTV Today – aims to assist security managers by launching an all-encompassing exhibition and seminar programme entitled Total Workplace Management.

Taking place between 11-13 October at Earls Court 2 in London, this event will bring security and facilities managers, directors, consultants and buyers responsible for the design, maintenance, running and management of workplaces together with a variety of leading solutions providers from the worlds of security, facilities management, Health and Safety and fire prevention.

Total Workplace Management encompasses the best elements of CMP Information’s previous autumn events – FM Expo, Securex and Managing Health & Safety – within a single show, thereby offering an holistic approach to delivering better building performance. It will build on the 6,164* attendees who visited in 2004 (*combined ABC audited figure of FM Expo, Securex and Managing Health & Safety) by providing a complete forum for those involved in the purchasing process.

Discover the latest security solutions

Attendance at Total Workplace Management represents an excellent opportunity for end users to explore the latest product offerings from quality suppliers including Honeywell Security (showcasing its LobbyWorks Visitor Management Suite), Nedap (focusing on its AEOS range of modular and web-based access control solutions), Securitas, G2 Integrated, Hunt Electronics, Todd Research, Morsewatchman and Initial Electronic Systems.

Also displaying their latest client solutions will be Sony, Mitsubishi, Bewator, Hitachi, Bosch Security Systems, Samsung, Rainbow CCTV and Pentax. In total, over 250 suppliers will be in attendance.

TWM: divided into four

Mirroring today’s typical business environment, the event’s floor plan is broken down into the four key areas in which an end user would ‘see’ their business and purchase products and systems accordingly: namely the Boardroom, Work, Front of House and Back of House. Here’s a description of each segment:

  • The Boardroom: where strategic decisions are made in relation to the performance and management of a given organisation’s physical assets.
  • Work: where the core business and day-to-day activities of the organisation are supported and enabled.
  • Front of House: the visible side of workplace management where service providers interface with clients, end users and the workforce.
  • Back of House: the security, infrastructure, networks, m&e systems and Control Rooms required by today’s businesses.

In support of this format, a seminar theatre on the show floor will give visitors an opportunity to hear a variety of industry experts discussing and debating the latest issues facing professionals having to manage all areas of the workplace.

Highlights across the three-day event for those with a particular interest in building security include The SMT Forum. Running for the second year in succession, this ‘live’ version of the security industry’s leading (and only) dedicated end user journal looks at the potential connectivity of physical security provision with IT in a discussion session entitled ‘Physical and IT Security: Only Connect?’. A leading panel of experts from both sides of the equation will be chaired by SMT’s award-winning Editor Brian Sims.

In addition, the British Security Industry Association will present sessions on several hot topics including corporate identity theft, counter-terrorism and premises security. There will also be an FM Learning Zone which represents a great opportunity for you to brush up on your facilities management skills while being privy to something of a refresher on current Best Practice, key legislation and the very latest developments in the profession.

The many and varied half-day educational sessions have been organised by the British Institute of Facilities Management.

Checking out The Zone

ECCTVS (European CCTV Suppliers) has joined forces with the event organisers to unveil the latest cutting-edge products for analogue CCTV and IP in The CCTV-IP Zone. Visitors will be able to view live pictures being transmitted, and discuss a range of analogue and IP-based surveillance solutions for the major vertical sectors (including transportation, banking and retail).

Products scheduled to be on display include the D-200VRH domes from deView, Bewator’s Solaris Quick domes, the highly successful Dinion camera series developed by Bosch Security Systems and the very latest in IP cameras produced at Sony.
