The government has launched a sustainable construction partnership with Sweden.
The UK-Sweden Better Buildings Initiative will bring together examples of environment friendly technology and practice in the two countries.
Environment minister Elliot Morley launched the scheme after he met Swedish sustainable development minister Mona Sahlin. Morley said: “The new collaboration aims to stimulate more take-up of new technology, reduce environmental impacts and generate business.”
A statement from the government’s Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs said Cambridge City Council was already working with authorities in Malmo to develop eco-friendly housing.
The link up also includes the launch of a new website (www.ukswedensustainability.org) to share best practice and skills amongst policy makers, investors and consultants.
