When live shopping channel QVC’s power supply at its south-west London hq became unreliable it sought help from WF Electrical.

A reliable power supply is vital to QVC as it broadcasts live for 17 hours each day and operates 24 hours. It turned to WF Electrical, its long-term supplier, which sourced uninterruptible power supply (ups) equipment from Chloride.

The installation of the new system had to be completed without loss of power to the client. Chloride developed a programme that ensured all supplies were maintained throughout the transitional stages, with minimal shutdown for the final changeover.

Chloride built and installed a system comprising three NET 200 kVA ups and a distribution switchboard for the essential supplies. Powerplan was commissioned for the associated removal and installation works.

The new ups allows QVC to have its own integral static bypass and wraparound bypass, enabling maintenance work to be carried out on each individual system while keeping the channel online.
