Unions have called off a strike at the Housing Corporation after an eleventh-hour deal between management and staff.
The walk-out of Unison and Amicus members, which had been called for Monday this week, was averted after what have been described as “constructive” talks.

Unison regional officer Stuart Barber said: “There has been a positive step forward and both trade unions are recommending acceptance to their members.”

He said the unions were consulting members and would only be able to reveal the details of the deal next week.

A corporation spokeswoman said it was involved in “ongoing and constructive dialogue with the unions, the contents of which are a matter for Housing Corporation staff”.

Unison and Amicus had planned to take action over staff redeployment and pension rights.
