Contract catering firm Compass has acquired Vendepac, the UK's largest vending company, for £84m.
As a result of the deal, Compass now owns large vending companies in the UK, North America (where it operates Canteen Vending) and Europe (where it operates Selecta).

Vendepac, previously owned by TM Group Holdings has nine per cent of the UK market share in contract catering and annual sales of £58m.

The deal is one of a number of transactions Compass has been involved in this year. In May, the contract caterer sold Le Meridien to Grand Hotels for US$2.7bn (£1.9bn). The deal ended Compass' involvement in the hotel industry. In April it sold Posthouse hotels to Bass for US$1.2bn (£842m).

The management now plans to concentrate on contract catering at roadside service stations.
