DVR manufacturere Videoswitch turned 20 this year. Managing director Roland Simmons said the company began by making digital sonar, medical electronics and data communication products, but moved swiftly into CCTV, and has enjoyed a boost through the rise of digital in recent years.
Videoswitch’s machines are non-PC-based, and claim a number of ‘firsts’ in the local market. It was the first UK company to build two removable hard drives into its DVRs, and the first to include a built-in CD writer as standard.
- Miwa has relocated its UK HQ and warehouse facilities from Bury St Edmonds in Suffolk to Rochester, Kent. The new location is larger in size and features a customer showroom and conference facilities.
- Modelocks UK, specialists in stand-alone coded access control, has established a US foothold by creating a new distribution partnership, and forming Codelocks LLC, based in Costa Mesa on the Californian west coast.
Codelocks LLC general manager Todd Shaw is running the business in Costa Mesa. “We are very buoyant about the new business, and the range is being received extremely well by everyone we meet,” he said.
- Mccess and video control specialist Bewator has received re-certification of the ISO 9001-2000 standard, passing with no corrective actions.
This follows the appointment earlier this year of Steven Phillips as quality manager. Since joining the business, Phillips has focused on managing the re-design of the company’s quality system, initiating tighter controls over costs, and delivery over the whole supply chain.
- Mccess control systems manufacturer TDSi has appointed Mike Sussman as its new technical director.
Sussman has an electronics degree and an MBA, and has extensive experience in the electronics and software industry, where he was involved in all aspects of product introduction including marketing, product development, and systems engineering.
