The report recommends that manufacturers should 'crime-proof' all new products, science and technology research funding should address crime reduction and that there must be a national strategy for e-crime.
Home Office minister Charles Clarke feels the report offers new ways of thinking about crime.
Clarke said: "The issue of cyber-crime is one about which this Government is acutely aware. That is why we created a National High-Tech Crime Unit within the NCIS, complete with £25 million worth of funding to develop a high-tech crime strategy backed by 80 cybercops."
