A cost saving of around 20% was made at Vodafone's new world hq by using Pirelli's FP200 Gold fire resistant cable instead of MICC cabling.
The specification of Pirelli non-MICC fire-resistant cable in the fire alarm system at Vodafone's new world hq in Newbury has produced cost savings of 20%.

Pirelli's FP200 Gold cable was recommended by electrical contractor T Clarke as an alternative to the MICC cable specified by project consultant Cundall Johnston and Partners. Cundall Johnston specified the MICC cable for use with Gent's Vigilon addressable fire alarm system due to doubts over the performance of non-MICC types.

Pirelli arranged for stringent testing to be undertaken in conjunction with the proposed Gent products under the fire test conditions required by standards. The test results proved the cable to be an effective solution.

The cost savings were attained due to the lower capital cost of the cabling, but also due to its speed of installation. The cabling was also suitable for direct clipping to the ceiling, necessary due to the lack of ceiling void in the premises.
