Volumatic can handle the cash

Storage of notes at the till point has been made both easier and much safer for Virgin Megastore staff since the introduction of Compact Counter Cache units from Volumatic.

Over 1,000 units are currently being rolled out to all 133 Virgin outlets across the UK. They will be used to store notes securely at the point of sale – and also during transit – prior to the notes being counted and sorted. Additionally, 20 Counter Cache trolleys have been purchased for use in the company’s larger stores.

Phil Smith – the Virgin Group’s risk and loss prevention manager – told SMT: “Volumatic’s products were chosen because they are robust, secure, fitted well into our till counter areas and allowed the flexibility of using additional cassettes for ease of cash removal.”

Designed to reduce the risk of theft, the units boast anti-fish drawers which only open wide enough to deposit items. The internal receptacles have a reusable cassette or a disposable pouch.
