Almost all of us are members of professional organisations or institutions. So what information and services do they offer us via their websites?
British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM)
www.bifm.org.uk
The BIFM website has recently been given a major overhaul, with the inclusion of facilities management news and online jobs as well as a large amount of information for members only. The focus of the site has changed from being mainly a recruitment tool to more of an information portal and content provider.
  • registration required for parts of the site (through membership)
  • large amount of information, good design and logical structure.

    International Facility Management Association (IFMA)
    www.ifma.org
IFMA, started in 1980 in the US, is one of the oldest bodies representing facilities managers with more than 18,700 facilities professionals across 67 countries. The website is geared towards the US, although links can be found to their European chapters via the site.

  • registration required for parts of the site (through membership).

    Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
    www.rics.org.uk
RICS is worth including here because of the amount of overlap between the two disciplines. It has its Facilities Management Faculty news, events and information on the website.

  • no registration required
  • large amount of information.
